I started my first computer company in 1991 from my basement. After six years there was no choice but to open a store. In 1997, I opened our first location in Bashford Manor Mall. We were the first computer store in a mall in the United States. In 2004, we expanded to a larger location on Bardstown Road in the Highlands.

The root desire for this company was to give access to technologies for everyone. We have modeled our store around providing great services, products, and educational materials to serve our clients. Regardless of age, we have clients from 4 to 94 years of age.

My philosophy, “the only dumb question is the one not asked.” Whether you are a home or business user, we are here for you.

My name is Joe Duncan. I am a college student currently taking classes for a CIS Cybersecurity major. I have been working at Access Technologies for about five years. I started the summer of my junior year of high school when my dad dropped me off on the street and told me to find a job. It took me almost two weeks of hunting to find this place. Of course this was no fun, but if he didn’t do that then I would never have gotten to work at a place I enjoy spending my time. Working here for so long has taught me how to schedule and plan out a job from start to finish. I have set-up a variety of networks for our customer’s homes and businesses. My favorite part of the job is building new computers for our clients. I have enjoyed my time working with Access Technologies and I cannot wait to see how our business evolves with time.

Hey, there! My name is Maisie, and I like to fix computers! I started getting into computers and technology during my Junior year in high school when I took my first computer repair course. It was intimidating at first, mostly due to being the only girl in the class, but once I “fixed” (taking battery and putting it back in)  my first computer I was hooked. That year, I took 2 more of those courses and enrolled in the summer course, too. I couldn’t get enough, as there was so much to learn.

I started working at Access Technologies in February and the people here are practically family now. I get to meet so many different types of people, and I learn at least one new thing every day. My favorite part of this job is the problem-solving and the feeling of fulfillment when I’m able to diagnose and fix the issue. In addition to that, I’m grateful to be given an opportunity to break through the glass ceiling and to show girls that we can do this, too!
